The University of Iceland is Iceland's oldest and largest university. The University of Iceland is a public university established in Reykjavík, Iceland in 1911. The university has strong international ties and is among the top 250 universities in the world, and the top 20 universities in the Nordic countries, according to the Times Higher Education Rankings.
The university currently has over 12.000 students enrolled in its five schools:
- School of Education
- School of Engineering & Natural Sciences
- School of Health Sciences
- School of Humanities
- School of Social Sciences
Participation in the proHear Consortium is through the University's School of Education. The School of Education consists of four faculties:
- Faculty of Education and Diversity
- Faculty of Education and Pedagogy
- Faculty of Health Promotion, Sports & Leisure Studies
- Faculty of Subject Teacher Education
